My Best images (minimum 5)
Images that require improvement. (minimum 2)

AO3: Record ideas, observations and insights relevant to intentions, reflecting critically on work and progress.
Discuss the ideas you had
·      discus your ideas for the set assignment and whether in your view the images presented in the contact sheet and best images section are strong (good enough) or require improvement.
·      You can refer to the image you have produced…

AO2Explore and select appropriate resources, media, materials, techniques and processes, reviewing and refining ideas as work develops.
·      This section will record the resources, materials and processes and techniques used to create your work
·      Where Photoshop has been used you will need to show how the work developed through use of screen shots to record the editing process.
·      Where appropriate use image and text to show how/why the images were edited../transformed.

AO1: Develop ideas through sustained and focused investigations informed by contextual and other sources, demonstrating analytical and critical understanding.
·      (Here you will discuss how you developed your work based on your research of e.g. artists/photographers, theory e.g. relating to the formal elements, an idea you had following a visit to an exhibition,  etc).
·      You must critically analyse the your work (how good is it, how can it be improved)

AO4:Present a personal and meaningful response that realises intentions and, where appropriate, makes connections between visual and other elements.

·      Post the best 4 images after editing with Photoshop.

·      (At the end of the entry you will discuss whether you have produced a personal and meaningful response, this means  (are my images creative/relevant to the subject area studied/connected and influenced by any research undertaken).

Definition & theory
A line is a path between two points, there is also an implied line where a physical line is not actually present, although the intention is present.
The viewer's eyes are naturally drawn along vertical lines, parallel lines, diagonal lines and even horizontal lines. Some of the main subjects in images, such as these, are paths, rails, buildings and streets.
Some lines such as diagonal/curvy lines represent motion within the picture.

The direction and orientation of a line can also imply certain feelings;
- Horizontal lines imply tranquillity, peace and harmony
- Vertical lins imply power and strength
- Diagonal lines imply movement, action and change.
- Cruved lines or s shaped lines imply quiet, calm and sensual feelings.
- Lines that converge imply depth, scale and distance - a fence or a roadway converges into the distance provides the illusion that a flat two-dimensional image has three- dimensional depth.

I have included the following visual examples which relate  to the above theory

Research (of artists and techniques)

Niki Gorick.

Related image

As a British fine art photographer specialising in black & white images of London and people in London, Niki Gorick has established a reputation for capturing the true character of the city, from its famous landmarks to its vibrant street-life and the way people interact with one another in the city. I think the angle she takes her photos at truely captures London in it's element and enhances it. The effect of her using black and white means her photos are easily distinguished from others and it makes them unique, it also enhances the depth within each one of her photos.

I have gained inspiration by prodcing photos with line incorperated into them as well as turning them into black and white to link to Niki Gorick.

Selected Images

The images that i have selected below are the ones that i believe are my best images.

Editing

Within editing these photos i tried to make all the colours more vibrant but still focusing upon the lines within the photos by increasing the contrast and vibrance also the exposure.

This photo is my personal favourite thoughout the whole shoot because i love the ageing on the trolley and how  the leaf interupts the lines, i made the tones warmer to reflect the autmun weather and i made the red more vibrant so it compliments the leafs.

For this photo i decided to turn the brightness and contast down and then by using selective colour i enhanced the green of the trees so the lines of the tree trunks and trolley would tand out more than if i didnt create this effect within photoshop. I made this a cooler tone by adding a cyan hue because i wanted it to appear as if it was taken at dusk as i belive it added a nice affect.

With this photo i like how by turning up the contrast the lines within the photo are more defined. I made the colours vibrant in the background to make the lines of the tree more prominant. I mainly turned up the contrast and dialed down the black in colour select.

Images that reqiure improvement.

I believe this photo is one of my worst photos because there isn't much depth present as I used my flash, although the trees in the background are more defined, but this was not the outcome I was aiming for. In order to improve in the future I will not use flash in a well lit setting, if I need it brighter I will just turn up the iso in order to achieve my desired effect.

For the shopping trolley image, it wasn't fully in focus because the shutter speed was long.
If I were to do this shoot again I would make sure that I focus upon capturing images similar to the photographer e.g getting photos of buildings and capturing them in a way that has line and shows how beautiful the architecture is, instead of photographing what I thought looked good.

I believe that I have produced a strong series of images inspired by my research of line, composition but not Niki Gorick which I should've...  The final images produced were refined by developing the contrast and exposure and also enhancing the colours present.
